Lee Baillie started BCL in 2012 because he saw the need for lower cost builds that enabled first home buyers and young families the chance to live the Kiwi dream, building their own home. BCL is a family owned and run business. Together with his wife Kate and 2 young children, they understand the growing demands on family and that it is a major life and financial decision to build a home so they take this seriously and work hard to create confidence and peace of mind. BCL uses our online system to track your builds timeline, budget and project management. You, our client has access to this online system along with all of our sub contractors. You know exactly where your build is at, and our sub contractors know exactly when they are needed – ultimately leading to no confusions.

BCL are not restricted with franchise rules and regulations. We are a family run business, proudly owned and operated in New Zealand. This enables us the flexibility to design for you or you bring your ideas and concepts and together and we will create your home. We use Axxis® Steel, a galvanised, high-tensile steel specifically designed for New Zealand’s house-framing market.  This product has a 50-year durability statement backed by New Zealand Steel. However, tests in Europe have shown the predicted design life of the same steel coated product that is used in New Zealand is over 200 years, provided the building envelope is well insulated and properly maintained.  So you can be confident.

A tough choice?

If two products are similar in cost, but one gives you heaps of extra value, which would you choose? The price of timber frames and steel frames for the average Kiwi house is very similar.  But that’s where the similarities end.

Steel offers much greater strength, hugely improved durability, much better fire resistance and a healthier, chemical free environment. It also allows you to build ‘bigger’. Steel’s strength allows for a home with larger open areas and larger doors and windows to make the best of a view, or that make the indoor-outdoor flow seamless. It offers bigger spans at an affordable price so you don’t have to compromise on your dream home.
