[ FAMILY RUN ]

At BCL we take on a limited amount of clients every year to fill our construction slots.
Each new build we take on with thought and consideration as we extend our family.
Being custom home builders means that we work really closely with you, your wish
list, needs, wants and budget to create your dream home.

We offer and insist on a full hand holding experience.

Say HiHi, I’m Lee Baillie and I love building homes.    Homes, not houses.

The story behind BCL is that my wife Kate and I spent the past few years prior to beginning Baillie Construction being the developers. Together we purchased, renovated, planned and put houses on the market and for awhile it was fun. It was exciting, and it was how we were going to get ahead in life while we still worked our ordinary jobs. Until we began wondering who would be living in our houses, what would they be like? Would they love the anaglypta wallpapered hall ways? Would they fawn over the handles we choose? Would they have kids and grow old here?
Could we come back and say hi?

We found ourselves drawing up our own floor plans that were based on what we loved, included spaces for kids, wider entrance ways and all important outdoor areas. As time went on we noticed the huge gap there is for being able to build what exactly it is you want, without the million dollar price tag. We knew there must be other hard working Kiwi’s who wanted a home they could call their own, not another spec home in suburbia or yet another brick and tile house.

We hunted high and low until we got such a bee in our bonnets that we decided we should do it! We could share what we had learnt and discovered from doing it ourselves. Build every single home as a custom. A fully architecturally designed home that suits the family that lives there. One they could design themselves, include their special touches and really make it theirs. It was once a dream we had at 2am while we painted with the fm radio crackling away – 8 years on it is now our absolute passion

With over a decades experience in residential homes and the building industry, Kate and myself fill the gap for custom new homes along with ecoconscious build practices. Now that we have our own young children, it is more important to us than ever to be using ecosustainable build practices and NZ designed and made products to support our economy. We personally sign off on every home and it is our name we wear on our shirts, the Baillies – no franchise, middle man or sales man here. We work hard to keep you well informed and up to date with all aspects of the build with our industry leading Project Management App.

Our tradesmen and contractors are handpicked, local hard working Dad’s from in and around the Mighty Manawatu. They are all qualified and Licenced Building Practioners (LBP) and have become a part of the BCL family. We back our team 100% and provide a Project Manager, Teams of Builders and Apprentices as well as full Interior Design and exterior specification choices which is Kate’s area of expertise.

Building should and can be a very fun and exciting process for all of those involved, I love the busy days on site and visit regularly, so does Kate with her scones!

NEWS + MEDIA

While building homes is pretty important too us, we know there’s a bigger picture too. Giving back is integral, we are passionate about being a part of and caring for our local community. We sponsor and help out a few good causes each year such as the B Grade Squash Tournament developing the next generation of players, Special Children’s Christmas for disabled children, Primary School events where we take along our Tiny Home On Wheels to act as the Gala Day raffle stands and Ruahine Kindergarten Association supplying the hangi for Matariki. We also built the Palmerston North City Council Gym to keep the team fit and healthy during their busy days. It was a high light to be Key Note Speaker at the Inaugural Tiny Home Conference (Kate ) in Wellington 2018 and a speaker on the  Expert Panel (Lee).
